About the material
Kraft paper is made by the sulphate pulping process, which is what gives it its strength, and is supplied either unbleached as natural brown or bleached white. Bleached kraft is typically specified to an ISO brightness of at least 70.
Machine glazed (MG) describes the surface finish rather than the fibre composition of the paper. During production, one side of the paper is dried against a large polished cylinder, creating a smooth, glazed surface on one side while the reverse side remains comparatively rougher. This makes MG paper suitable for applications requiring good printability or surface appearance while retaining useful strength and converting properties.
Grammage is the practical specifying dimension. MG kraft commonly runs between about 32 and 100 gsm, while kraft grades overall span roughly 30 to 250 gsm, with multi-wall sacks for powders, flour and sugar sitting at the heavy end.
